Annon Vs Doxxed Accounts
The Crypto & NFT communities all currently live in the primitive metaverse — Twitter and Discord. It’s where we work and hangout. It’s a living breathing eco system full of misfits trying to figure out this space together.
It’s what makes it fun, exciting and sometimes a dangerous place to be. Nothing to be afraid of though — just a gentle reminder to start slow and build with the right foundations. This is where the WGMI community comes in — to help upskill and support each other on their “Normie” to “Native” journey.
In order for you to unlock and get a sense of the web3 world, you’ll need to create your identity online by setting up accounts on these two platforms.
We often refer to 2 types of identities:
- Anonymous (“Anon”) — an account with a pseudonymous online name — finally become the person you really wanted to be. Not traceable to your identity in real life (“IRL”) and allows you to have fun experimenting!
- Doxxed — an account affiliated and traceable back to your IRL identity
Recommendation for Normies: Go Anon.
We’d recommend starting out with Anon profiles to start we find it enables more experimentation and risk taking without your IRL reputation to be tarnished. Spam, troll, curse — be you. This is what the permission-less, censorship resistant world promotes — it is true freedom of speech (even though we are still leveraging centralized social platforms in the interim).
The Pros
- Experiment & take risks — tweet , test your point of views, hypothesis, and shill to see how many followers you get, desperation is a smelly cologne. Eyeballs, followers = influence. Influence = monetisation opportunities. All this without any impact on your IRL reputation you’ve worked so hard to build.
- Stay Safe — Protect your ID by not being personally identified with valuable crypto/NFTs in your wallet (there has been instances where people have been kidnapped and held at ransom for private keys etc…)
If you feel you’ve got nothing to hide, and already have influence that you want to leverage — then go full Doxxed. Full respect and power to you!
